Branding Microsoft Entra and Intune isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s very helpful for the IT team and the business.
Why It Matters:
- Security and User Experience: Branding ensures that users recognize they’re on legitimate company systems, which enhances security and improves the user experience.
- Troubleshooting Assistance: It will also help your IT team in troubleshooting sign-in issues with Microsoft resources and SSO apps.
To help you get started, I’ve created a basic Entra Branding tool. This tool allows you to experiment with visual designs before making changes in your live environment.
For small/medium companies:
At a minimum, I recommend updating your Sign-in Logo.
- Edit the Logo: Use Paint or your preferred image editor to resize it to the suggested dimensions of 245x36px, with a maximum file size of 50KB.
- Upload the logo: go to the Sign-in form -> Banner logo in the Company Branding page.
- Optional Updates: If you have access to your company’s color scheme or a background image, consider updating those as well. Otherwise, the default settings should suffice.
For larger companies:
For larger organizations, doing a thorough job requires coordination with several teams—potentially including security, legal, and marketing/branding. (In some cases, you might be the security team!)
1 – Start with the Security Team:
- Password Reset Policy: Discuss whether end users are permitted to reset their own passwords.
- Confirm with the security team if they want to display any information as the Username hint text.
- Confirm with the security team if they want to display any information in the Sign-in page text box or not.
2 – Consult the legal team if you have one:
- The footer includes links to the Terms of use and Privacy and Cookies policies.
- While the Microsoft defaults are generally sufficient, it’s important to verify with your legal team to ensure they meet your company’s specific requirements.
- Based on their advice, you can choose to show, hide, or customize these links as needed.
3 – Talk to the marketing/branding team last:
- Design Process: Once you’ve determined what needs to be shown or hidden, share this information with the marketing team to kick off the design process.
- Graphics and Visuals: They might need to provide graphics for logos and background images, so it’s essential to collaborate closely.
- Testing: Show them the design tool linked below so they can visualize how the logos and images will affect the sign-in page design.
4 – Test your design

Once you are happy with the result, you can go in your Entra Branding page and update the settings accordingly. Those settings can take up to 15 minutes to replicate.
